Apple soars with 90% increase in profits iPhone sales and related revenue gained 124 percent to $5.4 billion for Apple, easily exceeding the $3.8 billion in revenue from desktop and portable computers. 1:Set the bird's wings with gold and it will never again soar in the sky. 2:The truth is, we are all born with potential greatness and blessed with numerous opportunities to soar to dizzying new heights. A string of military rulers saw oil revenue as a source of patronage and a reward for winning office. : balance expenditure with income balance of income and outlay balance receipts and payments 3:exceed譯為(在數量或質量上)超過,占優勢,它可以和不同的介詞連用,如exceed by表超出(某數量、程度或范圍), 例句:The Bush administration says federal expenditures will ascend exceed revenues by $ 398 billion this year and by a record high $ 482 billion in fiscal year 2009. If a variety were to flourish so as to exceed in numbers the parent species, it would then rank as the species.
Apr 21, (FT) -- Apple on Tuesday reported a 90 per cent increase in second-quarter profit, far surpassing bullish Wall Street estimates with a 49 per cent increase in revenue.
1:This bullish sentiment has been reflected in recent rise in the product futures markets in the USA and Europe. 2:Despite that disappointment, Raikkonen is bullish about his prospects for the race.
The consumer computer products group had been expected to record earnings per share of $2.46 on sales of about $12bn; instead, it reported $3.33 a share, or $3.1bn in total, on sales of $13.5bn in the three months to March 27. Stock in Apple rose more than 5 per cent in after-market trading.
1:earnings per share表示每股收益 2:stock in…
Steve Jobs, chief executive, said the new iPad computer had been well received since going on sale on April 3 and promised "several more extraordinary products in the pipeline for this year". Analysts expect a new version of the iPhone to be released as early as June.
The company announced that it has an online music store in the pipeline.
Apple's desktop computer sales rose 40 per cent on a volume basis from the second quarter a year ago, while portable MacBook computers gained 28 per cent.
The biggest surprise was the iPhone. Shipments more than doubled, thanks in part to the addition of new carriers, such as Vodafone in the UK. However, iPod units slipped 1 per cent.
With an average $600 selling price, iPhone sales and related revenue gained 124 per cent to $5.4bn, easily exceeding the $3.8bn in revenue from desktop and portable computers. The iPhone did especially well in Europe and Asia, where sales rose 400 per cent.
比如I am terribly sorry等等。
Apple for the first time broke out how much business it did in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, saying the revenue in the three markets had more than tripled in a year to $1.3bn for the quarter. The company plans to open two Shanghai stores this summer and have 25 locations in China by the end of 2011. Peter Oppenheimer, chief financial officer, warned that margins would fall in the present quarter, in part because of iPad launch costs. He forecast revenue of between $13bn and $13.4bn, up from $9.7bn in the same period of 2009. Analysts suggested that the guidance was on the conservative side.
