What it means in the U.S.: Outerwear from the waist to the ankles; trousers. 美式英語：長褲 What it means in the U.K.: Underwear. 英式英語：內褲 Potentially confusing sentence: “Wow, your mom has the nicest pants!” 慎用：哇噢，你媽媽的褲子很贊啊！（如果對方是英國人……呃，這誤會估計就大了去了。）

Braces

What it means in the US: Devices for straightening teeth. 美式英語：矯正牙齒的牙套 What it means in the UK: Suspenders. 英式英語：吊褲帶 Potentially confusing sentence: “I used to always get food caught in my braces 

as a kid.” 慎用：小時候（整牙），牙套里總是塞食物。（如果對方是英國人……這畫面太美，世紀君想象不能。）

Biscuit

What it means in the U.S.: A buttery, flaky bread served with savory meals. 美式英語：軟烤餅 What it means in the U.K.: A cookie. 英式英語：餅干 Potentially confusing sentence: “I can’t eat a biscuit unless it’s dripping in gravy.” 慎用：我吃軟烤餅一定要加肉汁。（如果對方是英國人……你儼然已經被扣上了“重口味”的帽子啦～）

First floor

What it means in the U.S.: The floor at ground level. 美式英語：一樓 What it means in the U.K.: The floor above the ground level floor. 英式英語：二樓 Potentially confusing sentence: “That super-important meeting is taking place on the first floor — don’t be late!” 慎用：這個會議至關重要，地點在一樓，請務必準時參加。（如果對方是英國人……迷路那簡直是一定噠～）

Fancy dress

What it means in the U.S.: Formal attire. 美式英語：禮服 What it means in the U.K.: Costume. 英式英語：戲服 Potentially confusing sentence: “Those girls invited us to a fancy dress party 

tonight. Now where can I get a tuxedo?” 慎用：姑娘們邀請我們參加今晚的化妝舞會，我們該去哪找件晚禮服呢？（如果對方是英國人……那回頭率、“驚艷”程度妥妥的！）

Trainers

What it means in the U.S.: A fitness expert who helps you work out. 美式英語：健身教練 What it means in the U.K.: Sneakers. 英式英語：運動鞋 Potentially confusing sentence: “Work out with trainers? What do I look like, a 

millionaire?!” 慎用：請個健身教練？我看起來很像百萬富翁嘛？！（如果對方是英國人……恭喜你，一句話就把自己塑造成了連運動鞋都買不起的窮光蛋。）

Chaps

What it means in the U.S.: Leather leggings worn by cowboys designed to protect 

the legs whilst horseback riding. 美式英語：皮套褲（牛仔們騎馬時穿著可保護雙腿） What it means in the U.K.: Guys. 英式英語：兄弟，朋友們 Potentially confusing 

sentence: “Nothin’ sexier than a pair of assless chaps!” 慎用：沒有什么比皮套

褲更性感的啦～（如果對方是英國人……不巧你正是個純漢子，呃，這可是個大誤會呢。）

Comforter

What it means in the U.S.: A quilted bedspread. 美式英語：被子 What it means in the U.K.: A baby’s pacifier. 英式英語：（嬰兒用的）安撫奶嘴 Potentially confusing sentence: “I can’t fall asleep without my favorite comforter.” 慎用：沒有最喜歡的那床被子我睡不著。（如果對方是英國人……OMG，又是“這畫面太美不敢看”……）

drink cider every day as a kid.” 慎用：小時候我天天喝蘋果汁。（如果對方是英國人……蒼天，這倒霉孩子打小就是個酒鬼！）

Knob

What it means in the U.S.: A rounded door handle. 美式英語：圓形門把手 What it means

 in the U.K.: A penis. 英式英語：男性生殖器 Potentially confusing sentence: “I broke 

my knob rushing out of the house this morning.” 慎用：今早，我沖出房間時把門把手弄壞了。（如果對方是英國人……Oh, poor man!）

Bin
