春節是我國民間最隆重、最熱鬧的一個傳統節日。春節時，家家戶戶都要做充足的準備。節前十天左右，人們就開始忙碌著采購年貨，為小孩子們添置新衣新帽，準備過年時穿。另外，節前人們會在家門口貼上紅紙寫成的春聯，屋里張貼色彩鮮艷、寓意吉祥的年畫，窗戶上貼著窗花，門前掛上大紅燈籠或貼“福”字。“福”字還可以倒貼，路人一念福倒了，也就意味著福氣到了。

SpringFestival is the grandest traditional festival in China. Every household willmake full preparations for the Spring Festival. Around ten days before thefestival, people will be busy preparing special purchases, including newclothes and shoes for children reserved for the New Year. Besides, people willput on Spring Festival couplets written on red paper on the door panels, redpaper-cuttings on window glass and brightly colored New Year paintings with auspiciousmeanings on the wall. They will also hang red lanterns or post the Chinesecharacter ‘Fu’ (meaning blessing or happiness) on the front door. The Chinesecharacter ‘Fu’ can be posted upside down, since it will bring good luck toanyone who reads “fudaole” signifying good fortune (in Chinese the “reversedfu" ishomophonic with “fu comes”, both beingpronounced as “fudaole”).
