昂立外語【新概念培訓】分享stike這個詞。strike在我們新概念二的課文中其實經常出現，但每次出現學生總會忘記它的意思。今天就來擴展一些strike的用法，加深印象。
其實strike和美國最熱愛的運動——baseball相關。strike有“擊打”“碰撞”的意思。而在棒球運動中，有一個區域叫strike zone，意為“好球區”。
要是擊球員三次錯過投手投來的好球，那么這名擊球員就只得垂頭喪氣地放下手里的球棒，也就是說他出局了。 而“出局”用英文來表示就是strike out。而strike out這個棒球用語早已被人們借用到棒球場外的日常生活中了。
strike-out則可用作名詞，表示“失敗”。
e.g. I've scored a strike-out in business.
我生意失敗了

這里strike作“敲擊”的意思，類似的意思出現在以下多篇課文中。

與此同時，有一部分大學生自愿在罷工期間駕駛公共汽車。
此處strike為名詞“罷工”
搭配為on strike 罷工中
