昂立外語【新概念培訓】跟大家分享plain這個小詞。在我們新概念二Lesson 43 Over the South Pole的課文的最后有這樣一句話： The aircraft was able to fly over the endless white plains without difficulty.
在這篇課文中，plain是一個名詞，解釋為a large area of flat dry land，“平原”，這句話的意思也就是說，飛機可以毫無困難地飛過這片茫茫無際的白色原野。那接下來我們一起來看一下，出現在下面一段話中的plain是什么意思把~

這是李安執導的電影《少年派的奇幻漂流》中，主人公派成年后所說的一段話，在這里我們不探討第一個故事和第二個故事究竟哪個才是真實發生的，我們就來看看他在講述完兩個故事后說的這段話，可以看出成年派在經受了那一段海上求生的經歷后對于人生有了新的認識，以及他對Richard Parker的懷念和感激。因而他說道，這是一個plain truth，如果沒有Richard Parker的話，他也不可能活到今天，講述他的故事。大家都知道truth是真相的意思，這里的plain顯然是一個形容詞，來修飾truth，根據派的述說，其實我們可以猜測出這里他想表達的是，這個真相是很顯而易見的、不需要任何說明的，沒錯，這里的plain的意思就是very clear, and easy to understand or recognize，也就是“清楚的”的意思。小朋友們趕緊把plain這個常用解釋記住咯~
