remarkable可以形容事也可以形容人，如：
Lu Xun a great creative home, also a remarkable stylist.

This region is remarkable for its scenery.
這個地區(qū)享有風景獨特的盛名。
The Great Gatsby 中有這樣一段：
Mrs. Wilson had changed her costume some time before, and was now attired in an
elaborate afternoon dress of cream-colored chiffon, which gave out a continual rustle
as she swept about the room. With the influence of the dress her personality had also
undergone a change. The intense vitality that had been so remarkable in the garage was
converted into impressive hauteur. Her laughter, her gestures, her assertions became
more violently affected moment by moment, and as she expanded the room grew
smaller around her, until she seemed to be revolving on a noisy, creaking pivot through
the smoky air.
威爾遜太太不知什么時候又換了一套衣服，現(xiàn)在穿的是一件精致的奶油色雪紡綢的連衣裙，是下午做客穿的那種，她在屋子里轉(zhuǎn)來轉(zhuǎn)去的時候，衣裙就不斷地沙沙作響。由于衣服的影響，她的個性也跟著起了變化。早先在車行里那么顯著的活力變成了目空一切的傲慢。她的笑聲、她的姿勢、她的言談，每一刻都變得越來越矯揉造作，同時隨著她逐漸膨脹，她周圍的屋子就顯得越來越小，后來，她好像在煙霧彌漫的空氣中坐在一個吱吱喳喳的木軸上不停地轉(zhuǎn)動。
本來如此充滿活力的威爾遜太太換了一套衣服，全身的氣質(zhì)都不同了。作者用了remarkable和hauteur（法語傲慢）作對比，明顯反映出其一褒一貶的傾向。
