Q1:This book is easy to understand / to be understood(這本書不難明白)這一句,應(yīng)用to understand還是to be understood?
(1)He is difficult to please(要他高興很不容易)。
(2)The sight was terrible to see(那情景怵目驚心)。
(3)The beef was not safe to eat(吃這牛肉并不安全)。
上述句式,「to+原形動詞(infinitive)」之前要用形容詞,而那形容詞一般是指難易、好壞或安危,例如easy、difficult、hard、impossible;great、good、nice、pleasant、lovely、terrible、horrible、awful、dreadful;safe、dangerous等。 That goal is impossible to achieve(那目標沒有可能實現(xiàn)),可possible卻不可用這句式,只能說It is possible / impossible to achieve that goal。
How long did the fire last?還是How long did the fire last for?
The fire lasted(for)two hours(火燒了兩小時)。 How long did the fire last? For how long did the fire last? / How long did the fire last for? |
